Randy and Sandra Huebert from Alberta, Canada founded El Refugio Fundacion as a non-profit in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico in 2010.
After working in different communities and impoverished areas around Ensenada, God placed a burden on their hearts to begin a safe home (Casa Esther) for at risk girls and teens that have been rescued from situations of neglect, abuse, prostitution and/or drug abuse. Casa Esther started in 2010, and can hold up to 25 girls, providing them with a safe, supportive, loving home environment.
El Refugio (The Refuge) was built for the purpose of providing a safe location where anyone can come to participate in ministry opportunities in Ensenada, Mexico and be challenged to grow in their faith. Located approximately 2 hours south of San Diego, El Refugio was designed for individuals, families, and groups up to 35-45 people.
We are a non-denominational Christian ministry, backed by Commission to Every Nation (CTEN). Our purpose is to share God’s love in order to meet educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of others, by being purposeful in our friendships, through mentoring relationships, and by partnering with organizations and local churches.
